All offseason, the speculations and/or hopes from fans of teams around the league were that they would get their hands on either Aaron Rodgers or Davante Adams…or both. Well, bad news, guys.
Rodgers and Adams aren’t going anywhere. They are *both* staying put in Green Bay where they have been together for eight years.
Today, reports have Aaron Rodgers signing a monster 4-year extension worth up to $200 million, with $153 million guaranteed. And with that, the Packers have slapped the franchise tag on his top target, Davante Adams.
Thanks to the new cap room, the #Packers are expected to franchise tag WR Davante Adams. https://t.co/H4GeatDNpm

The most common landing spot for Rodgers in predicted trades was Denver. And some may have also believed that wherever Rodgers went, Adams would follow.
Alternatively, if Rodgers left Green Bay, the Packers could start a rebuild which would involve letting Adams walk in free agency.
The scenario that involved Adams simply signing anywhere as a free agent had Raiders fans frothing at the mouth. The thinking was that Adams would love to join his former college quarterback Derek Carr in Las Vegas on a Raiders team desperate for help at receiver.
Adams purchasing a house in Las Vegas recently had many thinking it was happening. Well, he may be joining Carr in Las Vegas, but not as a teammate.
You didn’t *really* think two elite players like Rodgers and Adams were going to be traded or hit the open market, did you? It’s a relief that the saga is over, at least for one more year.
