Michigan State basketball is playing really well right now, and thus, they have seen a nice bump up in the latest batch of Bracketology from ESPN.
Joe Lunardi released is weekly Bracketology update on Tuesday, and he now has the Spartans up to a No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region. The Spartans are projected to face No. 12 seed UC San Diego in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Michigan State is 8-2 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten play following an impressive start to Big Ten play last week. The Spartans won’t return to the court until next week in a non-conference neutral site game against Oakland on December 17.
Michigan State has been mostly around the No. 7 – 9 seed line in Lunardi’s bracket projections this offseason and into the regular season. However, this week’s notable jump gives an indication that Michigan State is gaining more recognition for its strong start to the year.
Michigan State is one of 11 Big Ten teams in Lunardi’s bracket projection.
