MSU has roaring comeback, knocks off No. 1 Minnesota hockey

Michigan State hockey went on the road to take on No. 1 Minnesota in Minneapolis for a two game weekend series. On Friday night, MSU took down Minnesota in a shootout after a 3-3 tie. On Saturday, the Spartans did it again.

Despite trailing 3-1 midway through the third period, Michigan State came roaring back. Four goals in the final ten minutes of the game helped MSU secure a 5-3 win.

Four different Spartans played a role in the comeback. Isaac Howard kicked the party off with his second goal of the game. His goal was followed by Maxim Strbak just under two minutes later, knotting the game up at 3.

Charlie Stramel  kept the rain pouring on the Golden Gophers, scoring 53 seconds after Strbak, and it would prove to be the game winning goal. Red Savage would add an empty netter.

Now sitting at 13-2-1, the Spartans will enter into the holiday break. The team will return to action on Dec. 29 for the Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids for a game against Northern Michigan.
