A pair of Spartans defensive backs got some high praise from new defensive coordinator Joe Rossi on Tuesday.
Rossi met with the media ahead of the Spartans’ season opener against Florida Atlantic later this week, and noted cornerback Charles Brantley and safety Malik Spencer have come along the furthest since spring practice.
Below is the quote from Spartan Mag’s Jim Comparoni:
I asked #michiganstate DC Joe Rossi which players have come along the furthest since spring practice. He said junior safety Malik Spencer and redshirt-junior cornerback Charles Brantley. Both players had starting experience in the past, and have gained traction in recent weeks.

Both Spencer and Brantley are expected to be key players for the Spartans’ defense this upcoming season. So this is great news for Michigan State.
Kickoff between the Spartans and Owls is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Friday. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
