MSCHF does not do subtle. The Brooklyn collective's latest stunt takes two Lexus electrified models and bends them past the point of driveability, then calls the results art rather than concept work.
The pieces, Circle Car and Twisted Car, went up at Chelsea Industrial in New York during Armory Week, running September 24 to 26, 2026. Lexus commissioned the project and insists these are just sculptures.

Lexus RZ 450e Becomes The Circle Car
Circle Car starts life as the RZ 450e, Lexus's all-electric crossover that in 2026 carries a base price of $47,395 and in all-wheel-drive form makes 313 hp. MSCHF took that shape and closed it into a loop.
The nose gets fused to the tail, turning the crossover's usual proportions into a single continuous ring. There is no functional cabin left, no wheels doing what wheels do. It reads as a frozen loop, motion implied rather than possible.
Lexus displayed Circle Car next to an unaltered RZ 450e, letting visitors compare exactly how far the sculpture strayed from the source.
The brand calls these works "Form Cars," a label meant to separate them from anything resembling a concept vehicle. Lexus put it plainly, "These creations should be treated more as sculptures than prototypes." Nobody is cross-shopping this against a new Lexus SUV.
Lexus RX 450h+ Turns Into Twisted Car
The second piece starts from the RX 450h+, a plug-in hybrid that starts at $66,780 and normally does the school-run, grocery-run, everything-run thing without complaint. MSCHF put it through longitudinal torsion instead.
The body rotates around its own central axis, corkscrewing the whole vehicle into something closer to a spiral than a crossover. Panels that once sat flush now twist away from each other. As with its sibling piece, Twisted Car stood beside a standard RX 450h+ inside the same Chelsea Industrial space.
MSCHF presents the sculpture as a kind of animation smear made solid, the in-between shape a moving object takes before your brain resolves it back into something recognizable.
Motor1's Take: The stunt gives Lexus cultural currency with art and viral communities. That buzz helps image but won't change what mainstream SUV buyers need.
The test is whether galleries and collectors keep engaging or this fades as a one-week story. If it lasts, Lexus can repeat the format to reach new shoppers. If not, it's a short PR win.
