Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll stuns fans with comment about Tyler Perry's 'colour'

Brendan O’Carroll has been called out online, following the comments he made regarding Tyler Perry 's 'colour' on The One Show.

Viewers who caught the quotes on BBC show have accused the Mrs Brown’s Boys star of making an 'incredibly racist remark' towards the American actor and director.

Appearing alongside the Don't Look Up star via video link on Tuesday night, Brendan, 66, was asked whether he could see Tyler, 52, ever appearing on his award-winning comedy creation.

Replying to hosts Lauren Laverne and Harry Judd, Brendan gestured to his own face and said: "So far we haven’t had anyone of his colour in there so I don't know if we could have him in.

"But you know what, I'd love that, but I think more importantly I'd love to do another movie with him."

Seemingly shocked, Hollywood star Tyler laughed at the comment and repeated it back to the Irish comedian.

"Nobody my colour," the Star Trek actor reiterated, as Brendan pointed to his face once again.

Tyler added: "Time to change the world. Diversity rules, here we go."

Many watching at home were stunned by the exchange, taking to social media to discuss Brendan's comment.

"Brendan Carol just made a racist remark on the one show and not one person called him out. Shame on you BBC #TheOneShow," one viewer tweeted on Tuesday night.

Another added: "Did Brendan O’Carroll just say Tyler a Perry couldn’t be in Mrs Brown’s Boys because he’s black on The One Show!?"

""Brendan O'Carroll's attempt at being funny towards @tylerperry on BBC One Show tonight was quite embarrassing, I'm sure no malice was meant but that comment was wrong on so many levels," a third observed.

The Mirror has approached representatives for Brendan O'Carroll for comment.

Tyler and Brendan were reunited on The One Show, after the pair starred together in new Netflix comedy A Madea Homecoming.

Brendan has a cameo as his character Agnes Brown in the 12th installment of the long-running film franchise written and directed by Tyler.

After their segment aired on Tuesday night, the BBC programme shared a brief clip of the dad-of-four discussing what it was like to take Mrs Brown to America and work with a Hollywood heavy-hitter.

Questioning the choice of clip used from the interview, one Twitter user asked the show's official account: "Hey, BBC, why aren't you showing the clip of the incredibly racist remark Brendan O'Carroll made immediately after this quote?"

"Ah yes, before the racist remark," another replied to the video shared by evening magazine programme.
