MRI confirms Tyler Higbee suffered torn ACL vs. Lions

There’s a chance the Los Angeles Rams will begin the 2024 season without starting tight end Tyler Higbee available.

According to Ian Rapoport, an MRI confirmed Higbee tore his ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Lions, which is what the Rams initially feared. The injury occurred in the second half when Higbee was attempting to catch a high pass and he was hit in the knee by Lions safety Kerby Joseph.

As Rapoport noted, Joseph wrote on social media that he never intends to hurt anyone or “harm their career,” but his hit on Higbee will make for a difficult offseason for the veteran tight end.

Higbee did not have a catch in the playoff game against Detroit but he hauled in 47 receptions for 495 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season.

The Rams signed Higbee to an extension in September, keeping him under contract through the 2025 season.

If Higbee is unable to play in Week 1, the Rams could be looking at Davis Allen as their top tight end, along with potentially Brycen Hopkins.
