Many companies have been issuing spoof releases today in an attempt to prank their customers on April Fool’s Day.
However, one has managed to catch quite a few people, and cause an online storm in the meantime.
Mr Tayto of crisp company Tayto posted a shocking statement this morning, in which he announced that the classic Cheese and Onion flavour would be replaced with another.

“Tayto Cheese & Onion will be removed from the shelves in the coming weeks to make way for this much sought after flavour,” the account said.
Along with the statement, the account posted two photos of mascot Mr Tayto holding a new green packet of crisps.
On it was half an avocado and a slice of toast, with the fruit spread on top of it.
Mr Tayto’s post on Facebook and Twitter said: “Introducing NEW Tayto Smashed Avocado!”
“Keep your eyes peel’ed for it in your local stores next week! #TaytoSmashedAvocado #FarewellCheeseAndOnion”
While some were quick to cop it was joke, others were outraged before they realised.
One Twitter user replied: “When they said they were scrapping #Tayto cheese and onion, I actually shouted ‘WHAT!?’ at the radio, until they said smashed avocado… and then I realised the date.
“Well played Mr.Tayto.”
On Facebook, one user said: “I was getting excited too but remembered it's April 1st.”
Another user said: “Imagine the backlash if this was true.”
“Ah, they got me. Brilliant. The thoughts of messing with cheese and onion got me. Well done,” one user commented on Facebook.
Others thought the fake flavour would actually be tasty.
One person Tweeted: “Ok, but these would actually be unreal, no?”
“I mean I would live for this,” another said.
“Is it wrong that I’d still like to try them,” one Twitter user said.
“I think you might need to do this though,” a user commented under the Facebook post.
