MP: Six private hospitals under lens over maternal deaths

INDORE: Around six private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh are under health authorities lens over ‘negligence’ leading to maternal deaths in this fiscal.

The matter came to fore through a review meeting of maternal deaths that happened last week which led to an investigation into it, an official said.

In a review, health authorities found that most of these private hospitals are smaller ones with lack of facilities like blood storage units, power back, staffers, and others, an official said.

In one such case at a hospital, a woman was admitted with labour pain at 2.30 pm and her scissor was completed at around 3 pm. The woman later developed complications and was referred to MY hospital, where she died, an officia said.

CMHO Dr BS Saitya said, “ZMO’s are asked to investigate each maternal death after reviews. The maternal death programme is solely managed by DHO-1.”

DHO-1 Dr Purnima Gadoriya said, “The ZMO’s are directed for enquiry into maternal deaths in hospitals post review of case papers. The case details and enquiry report will be put before the Collector in the DHS meeting.” tnn
