MP Christian Matheson quits after sexual misconduct claim upheld against him

A Labour MP has quit Westminster over sexual misconduct.

An independent panel on MPs’ conduct recommended Christian Matheson be suspended from the Commons for four weeks for “serious sexual misconduct”.

He responded: “I have today, with great sadness, tendered my resignation as Member of Parliament for the City of Chester.
