Celtic hero Moussa Dembele has held "secret" transfer talks with Manchester United, according to a report in France.
The 26-year-old revealed earlier this month he's targeting remaining with Lyon despite their purchase of Alexandre Lacazette as a free agent from Arsenal. Dembele returned to form last season with 22 goals in 36 appearances. But now Media Foot claim the former Parkhead star is locked in talks with Erik Ten Hag's side amid Cristiano Ronaldo 's uncertain future. The football icon wants out at Old Trafford but has yet to find a suitor willing to make their move.
United 's interest in Dembele is long-standing with the former France U21 star scouted regularly over the past six seasons. It's understood he featured prominently on the Red Devils' wishlist while Jose Mourinho was in charge. And he was watched by United among other English Premier League big hitters last season, as he was a bright spark among a season to forget during Peter Bosz's first campaign at the helm.
Dembele has long been coveted since his goal-laden stint in the Scottish Premiership under Brendan Rodgers' stewardship. The reports adds that Lyon are willing to "listen to offers" for a player who would likely command a hefty transfer fee despite only having one year left on his current deal with OL.
Celtic retain a cast-iron 10 per cent sell on fee for a player they sold to Lyon for £19.8m on the final day of the 2018 summer transfer window. He has also been linked with Southampton in their search for a new striker.
