US President Donald Trump has reignited discussion over his place in American history after sharing an AI-generated image of himself carved alongside four former US presidents on Mount Rushmore, reviving a years-long push tied to his stated ambition of appearing on the national monument.
The AI-generate image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, depicted the US president’s face added beside George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln on the towering granite sculpture in South Dakota’s Black Hills. Trump shared the image without any accompanying statement, but the post quickly drew attention online because of his previous remarks about wanting his likeness permanently etched into the landmark.
