A motorbike rider was injured during what has been described as a "serious" crash on the M5 in Bristol. The biker was rushed to hospital following the incident which forced a closure on the exit slip road at junction 18 for Avonmouth this afternoon (June 24).
Avon and Somerset Police said the incident happened at around 4pm and involved a single vehicle. A closure was set up and kept in place until 6.30pm.
In a tweet, the force said the crash was "serious" and motorists were asked to find alternative routes. In another Twitter post, police confirmed the rider had gone to hospital.

The second tweet said: "The northbound exit of the M5 junction 18, Avonmouth, Bristol, has reopened following a single-vehicle collision at 4pm today. A motorbike rider went to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
"The road was reopened by 6.30pm."
