Motorcyclist dies in Highlands crash with car as road closed for hours

A MAN has died following a crash between a motorcycle and a car in the Highlands.

Police were called to the A862, near Ardullie in Ross-shire, at around 4.05pm on Monday following a report of a collision between a BMW GS1250 motorcycle and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

Emergency services attended the incident; however, the 59-year-old male rider of the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no other injuries reported.

Police closed the road for around five hours while detectives carried out their investigations into the incident.

Officers reopened the stretch of the A862, near Ardullie, at around 9.50pm.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or any of the vehicles prior to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone with dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.”
