Motorcyclist dies after horror crash during biker group ride on rural Scots road

A motorcyclist has died in a horror crash during a group ride on a rural Scots road.

The 41-year-old had been one of a number of bikers travelling together on the B723 Annan to Eskdalemuir road in Dumfries and Galloway when the collision took place at 2.30pm on Sunday, June 11. No other vehicles were involved.

Medics raced to the incident but sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours to allow for collision investigators to carry out inquiries.

Sergeant David Kerr said: “An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have any information to contact us. Any small piece of information could assist our enquiries as we piece together what has happened.”

If anyone has any information regarding the incident, please contact officers at Road Policing, Dumfries, via 101, quoting incident number 2531 of June 11, 2023.
