Where is the French Grand Prix being held?
The MotoGP French Grand Prix is being held at the Bugatti Circuit which is located within the Circuit de la Sarthe - which is home to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans car race - and is 2.6 miles (4.185km) long. The track is named after Ettore Bugatti - the Italian-French automobile designer and manufacturer. The circuit was opened in 1965 - 18 years after the death of Bugatti in Paris.
Some of the Bugatti circuit overlaps with the main 24-hour track, including the pit straight, the Dunlop Chicane, La Chapelle and Raccordement. The track separates after La Chappelle, which carries on right for the Bugatti circuit and left for the 24-hour car layout.
The Bugatti circuit also hosts the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race, which was won in April by Gregg Black, Etienne Masson and Dan Linfoot for Yoshimura Sert Motul.
