MotoGP schedule: When is the next MotoGP race and where will it be held?

MotoGP is gearing up for the French Grand Prix at Le Mans at the Bugatti circuit. Last year’s grand prix was won by Marco Bezzecchi, who took the victory during the world championship’s 1000th grand prix weekend.

The victory was the Italian's second grand prix win last year, after taking his first at the Argentine Grand Prix - which briefly gave him the championship lead.

Last year's French GP set a new a attendance record for MotoGP, with 278,805 fans turning up at Le Mans across the weekend.

Jorge Lorenzo has the most MotoGP French Grand Prix wins, with six victories across 2009-2016. The Spanish rider announced his retirement in 2019 after taking three championships in 2010, 2012 and 2015.

Where is the French Grand Prix being held?

The MotoGP French Grand Prix is being held at the Bugatti Circuit which is located within the Circuit de la Sarthe - which is home to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans car race - and is 2.6 miles (4.185km) long. The track is named after Ettore Bugatti - the Italian-French automobile designer and manufacturer. The circuit was opened in 1965 - 18 years after the death of Bugatti in Paris.

Some of the Bugatti circuit overlaps with the main 24-hour track, including the pit straight, the Dunlop Chicane, La Chapelle and Raccordement. The track separates after La Chappelle, which carries on right for the Bugatti circuit and left for the 24-hour car layout.

The Bugatti circuit also hosts the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race, which was won in April by Gregg Black, Etienne Masson and Dan Linfoot for Yoshimura Sert Motul.
