Motion and Lakota in Bristol named must-visit nightclubs for 2022 by Mixmag

After a hugely difficult few years for the night-time industry, ravers are being welcomed back with open arms by clubs all over the country.

Nights out are back on the cards and with a lot of partying to make up for, it's time to get planning for the weekends ahead of us.

Bristol has always been known as a great city when it comes to having a good night out and two of its finest venues have been named "clubs you need to rave at" in 2022 by renowned magazine Mixmag, alongside 23 other UK partying locations.

Lakota is listed at number 11 in the guide, which mentions its Summer of Love Festival, which was the first dance festival to take place since the outbreak of the pandemic. The Stokes Croft club also welcomed iconic drum & bass DJ Andy C back to the club for its New Year's Eve party after a 20-year hiatus for the award-winning selector.

The implementation of Covid restrictions didn't stop Lakota from welcoming eager partygoers, as the venue launched Lakota Gardens in its outdoor area in 2020 which hosts safe, socially distanced events including live DJs, bands, comedians and circus acts.

Lakota continued to host a range of sold-out events throughout 2021, with headliners such as Denis Sulta, Eats Everything, Bladerunner, Voltage and Saoirse all gracing the decks. It's no wonder it's listed as a must-visit night-time spot for this year.

You can find a full range of upcoming events on Lakota's website.

The second Bristol club to make Mixmag's list is Motion, with the magazine referring to the warehouse venue as "one of the vital organs of its [Bristol's] nightlife scene". The go-to venue for Bristol dance music lovers has powered through the pandemic, adjusting throughout to ensure it continues to provide the same world class nights it's long been loved for.

Motion has always thrived on community, starting out as a skatepark in 2005 off the back of a £20k loan. It is now somewhere that attracts ravers from across the planet thanks to its consistently impressive line-ups, weighty sound system and sprawling industrial layout.

The former skatepark has been hailed as one of the best in the world on numerous occasions by DJ Mag, and was even named 'Best Large Club in the UK' in 2018.

The much-loved location has already released its programme for the first quarter of the year, which features huge names such as Solardo, Floating Points and Charlie Boon.

Mixmag labels Motion a "go-to venue for some of the best names in the game" in its 2022 guide and it's certainly a must-go for many ravers out there too.
