Motherwell star explains rejecting Fir Park exit with 'unfinished business' at Steelmen

Mark O'Hara says there's plenty more to come from him after overcoming his latest injury setback at Motherwell.

It's been a troubling 12 months for the midfielder since manager Graham Alexander arrived as boss last January. First, he suffered a concussion injury.

Then it was a hamstring problem in pre-season before a quad injury in November ruled him out up until last Saturday's 2-1 Scottish Cup fifth round win over Aberdeen.

He didn't expect to play 90 minutes but O'Hara excelled in the match, ahead of facing the Dons again today in Premiership competition.

O'Hara opted to turn down moves away from ML1 in January in order to fight for his place in Alexander's team, as he he thoroughly enjoys life at Fir Park.

He said: “I feel I have unfinished business here. I feel I have a lot more to give than I have maybe shown at times. It’s not gone as smoothly as I wanted.

“I have loved playing here in front of the fans and I feel we have a really good chance to be part of something special this year and I want to be part of it.

"I am so happy to be back now and hopefully I can help the team push on. I have a great relationship with everyone here."

It's been a tough time for the midfielder and a bad news off a scan left him gutted. But he's learned plenty that will stand him in good stead.

O'Hara added: “I hit a shot in training and something went. We didn’t think it was that bad and the scan showed a tear. I was a bit numb and and I don’t think I have been as sad as that. I was genuinely sad.

“It’s been a freak year. I have never had anything like that. There were a few different setbacks, all for different reasons. It was challenging.

“You do learn a lot and have to do certain things to keep yourself going. I’ve overcome it and I’m feeling really good now.”
