Motherwell fan group urge struggling Steelmen to 'show some passion' with Fir Park display

Frustrated Motherwell fans have hung a banner outside Fir Park urging the club's players to "show some passion for the badge on your shirt', amid the Steelmen's continuing struggles in the Scottish Premiership.

A 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie yesterday made it 11 league games without a win for Steven Hammell's side, with supporters starting to lose patience with the club legend and his players.

Since Hammell took over from Graham Alexander in August, the former left-back hasn't fared any better than his predecessor, picking up just four league wins from 22 games, which has left the Steelmen joint-bottom of the division with Dundee United.

The Steelmen have to go back to October for their last league win - a 1-0 success away to Dundee United - and even further back for their last triumph at home, which came in August with a 1-0 success over Livingston.

Motherwell have backed their manager in the transfer market with nine new signings during the January window and while many of the fresh faces have yet to get the time to bed in, supporters aren't happy with what they are seeing.

And today fan group Block E have posted an image from outside Fir Park where a banner has been hung on a wall near the main entrance urging the the Motherwell players to "Show some passion for the badge on your shirt."

It's been a concerning spell for the club with chief executive Alan Burrows announcing he will be stepping down from the role after 15 years at Fir Park, although he is staying on until his successor is appointed.

Motherwell have another week or so to stew over their Premiership plight as they take a break for Scottish Cup fifth round action on Saturday. They head to Championship side Raith Rovers where anything less than a win would heap more pressure on Hammell.
