Motherwell boss Graham Alexander says he's glad his side's Premiership top-six fate is in their own hands, and they're not relying on other results.
A 4-2 win over St Mirren at Fir Park last week left Motherwell fifth in the table, and they know victory at Livingston tomorrow will guarantee a top-six finish.
That brings with it a financial boost from playing against Rangers and Celtic, plus a crack at securing a European slot.
However, Alexander says he's not looking at anything beyond winning a game of football in West Lothian tomorrow afternoon.
He said: "I think in life that's the best you can ask for, really, that things are in your control, that you're in control over your destiny.
"If you do things right and prepare in the right way, but take that into whatever you do, then it gives you the best chance of being successful.
"It doesn't guarantee you anything - I think we've seen that over the course of the season - but I'd rather be in this position than in a position where even if we win we might not make it, and we're looking at other results.
"We have to embrace that, but every game at this level is tough.
"Livingston have the same ambitions as us, going into the game, so it's all geared up for a good, competitive game."
Alexander knows there are a lot of elements riding on Motherwell's performance tomorrow afternoon, but says they have to ignore that as much as they can.
"There is a lot riding on this game," he said. "I think everyone knows the importance throughout the league to all the clubs, who have to fight for finance, so it's important to finish in the top six, if possible.
"But if we start thinking about what it leads to then we'll be distracted from the job we have to do, which is to go and win a game of football.
"For me, that's all we're concentrating on.
"We don't have to talk about what it potentially means in the long-term. It's important that we know our jobs for tomorrow, try and replicate the good things that we did last week and try to improve the things we could have done better, and go into the game with the same mind-set and mentality that we did."
