Motherwell boss admits next few weeks are 'massive' for their season

Steven Hammell admits Motherwell face an important next few weeks in their season, and hopes to take the frustration of their 1-1 draw against Livingston out on Hibs on Sunday.

The Steelmen follow up the visit by Lee Johnson's side with back-to-back home games against Hibs and Ross County, then a Scottish Cup fourth round clash at Championship strugglers Arbroath, and a trip to St Mirren.

Motherwell fought back from behind to draw 1-1 at Livingston, with Kevin van Veen's 12th goal of the season cancelling out Morgan Boyes' opener just two minutes earlier, while goalkeeper Liam Kelly saved a penalty, and the retaken spot-kick from Nicky Devlin in the first half.

But the Steelmen created a number of chances, with van Veen twice hitting the bar, and Hammell was left frustrated.

He told the club's website: "It's an important couple of weeks coming up for the club. It's massive. We put a lot of emphasis into this game as well. We wanted to win it, we've not done that, and that adds on next week against Hibs.

"It's about putting absolutely everything that we can to make sure we're in a position to put on a positive performance and get a positive result."

On the Livingston game, he said: "I felt we could hurt them, we did hurt them, and they were hanging on at the end.

"It's a game we should be coming away with three points from. We dominated it, but it's just those final bits in the final third."
