Mother mourns death of 'good son' who had struggled during lockdown

Much-loved semi-professional footballer Marcus John Gardiner Beddoe tragically lost his life after taking a powerful drug used to wean addicts off heroin. Mr Beddoe passed away after being found unresponsive a sofa in a flat in Derbyshire.

At the inquest into the 25-year-old's death, his mother, Mary Beddoe, told the hearing that her son, while he had his problems, was a "good son, kind, funny and generous until about Christmas [2020]". It was shortly after that point when he started to have appointments with his local GP surgery to discuss his mental state.

His parents believed the restrictions of the second lockdown contributed to his isolation and deterioration in his psychological state. The inquest also heard that Mr Beddoe had lost significant sums gambling, reports Derbyshire Live.
