A mum looking to save time and reduce energy bills while serving her family-of-four has shared how she lays tin foil across her whole dining room table in lieu of plates.
Rebecca Cubberly from Telford, Shropshire, laid five strips of tin foil down on her table before piling on mince, vegetables, nachos, cheese and wraps and letting her two children dig in.
The 28-year-old claimed the family liked "picky meals" and said the picnic-style dinner was more fun with minimal clean-up.
Rather than the usual assortment of bowls to wash, she only had the knives and a chopping board to wash, as the family ate with their hands.
She saved a lot of time by using the air fryer, she said, and only had to pick up the tin foil and throw it away.
She told the Mail Online that she spent the time she saved with the lack of washing up relaxing, after sending her husband Karl away to bathe her six-year-old Jack and her four-year-old Evie.
The children loved the tin foil so much, Rebecca said, that she FaceTimed her mother so she could see their reactions.
"We'll 100 per cent be doing it again, we'll be trying it with lots of different things like pizza and ploughman's or when we have a picky tea or when I'm just not in the mood to wash up," she said.
She shared a photo of her hack on social media, where users debated its benefits.
One argued it was a waste of tin-foil which damaged the environment.
They wrote: "No dishes but it’ll sit in landfill for up to 400 years."
However, Rebecca claimed she recycled the foil and said she saved water as she didn't have to use the dishwasher.
"Everything has packaging but I didn't buy a taco kit so there was no waste from that. I got mince beef which I split to make another meal with," she added.
She also said she made her own taco seasoning and got a bulk package of wraps that included enough for her childrens' lunches the next day.
Other social media users praised Rebecca for her "smart" idea, saying it was a brilliant way to avoid doing the washing up.
Rebecca went on to say that the idea went down well with her kids, who ate "every last bit".
