Mother Blames Open Borders For Son's Overdose Death At RNC

Packages of the overdose antidote naloxone await use on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at OnPoint NYC, an overdose prevention center in New York. According to a study published Monday, June 17, 2024, in JAMA

Anne Fundner, a mother from Southern California, delivered a powerful speech at the Republican National Convention, sharing the heartbreaking story of her 15-year-old son's overdose death in 2022. Fundner received a standing ovation as she recounted the tragic loss of her son, Weston, and attributed it to what she described as the 'tragic reality of open borders.'

During her speech, Fundner portrayed Weston as an exceptional young man who was a loving big brother, active in church activities, and passionate about football and surfing. She revealed that Weston's life was cut short due to a moment of peer pressure that led him to try a substance that ultimately proved fatal - fentanyl.

Tears welled up in Fundner's eyes as she spoke, and the audience, which included prominent figures like former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, rose to their feet in a standing ovation. Chants of Weston's name filled the room, accompanied by calls for change with the rallying cry of 'Joe must go!'

Fundner held President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, the so-called border czar, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, along with all Democrats who support open borders, accountable for the tragedy that befell her son. She passionately expressed her belief that lax border policies contributed to the circumstances that led to Weston's untimely death.
