A man wanted in connection with a vicious double stabbing left the country the following day for Spain.
John Jones is thought to have stayed in a Madrid hotel before moving on - possibly to Ibiza.
The 31-year-old was today named one of the UK’s most wanted fugitives.

Two men suffered serious knife wounds after an attack outside the Horse Shoe Pub in Ormskirk.
The victims, aged in their 20s and 30s, were taken to Ormskirk Hospital with “serious but not life threatening” injuries.
The scene was cordoned off for hours after the attack, which unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, April 28, 2018.
The following night Jones, whose last known address was Ennerdale Drive in Aughton, is believed to have checked into a hotel in the Spanish capital after leaving the UK.
Detectives have been unable to trace him but today revealed they had linked him to Ibiza.
He is described as being around 6ft tall, stocky, and with dark hair.
The National Crime Agency released his details as part of its latest most wanted campaign, explaining Jones was wanted on suspicion of wounding with intent.
The NCA said two men were thought to have carried out the attack and added: “It is believed Jones fled the UK in the immediate aftermath.
“There is information to show he stayed at a hotel in Madrid the night after the stabbings but left rapidly the next morning.”
Jones is one of four men with links to Merseyside named among the UK’s 12 most wanted.
Appealing for details, Steve Rodhouse the NCA’s Director General of Operations said: “Fugitives usually continue offending while on the run and these men will be known in criminal circles wherever they are.
“The last thing the fugitives’ associates will want is the combined determination and capabilities of the UK and Spanish law enforcement focusing on them.
“Many of these fugitives will be trying to blend in to the large British communities who have made their homes in Spain, and if you are resident, you may know one of them from your town or village.
“Loyalties change over time and we urge anyone with information about these men to help us find them.”
