Most Scots 'in no rush' to shut down North Sea oil production

Most Scots want to avoid a race to shutdown North Sea production, with more than a third wanting to extend oil and gas extraction.

Industry body Offshore Energies UK polled 1,000 Scottish adults at the start of February, finding that 59% thought extraction should be allowed to decline as forecast or extended, while 25% said production should be halted immediately, or its end speeded up.

A further 36% said offshore production should be extended beyond 20 years where possible.
