Most expensive homes sold in Merseyside this year

The ECHO can reveal the most expensive properties to change hands in Merseyside in the space of a year, with the sale price between £2m and £3m.

New data has provided an insight into the eye watering price tags of some of the most exclusive properties in the region, with two of them even located on the same street.

Victoria Road in Formby has the nickname Millionaire's Row with good reason. It's one of the most sought after areas in Merseyside and is known for its famous residents, which includes a long list of footballers.

According to Rightmove, properties on the luxury stretch of road had an overall average price of almost £1.8m over the past 12 months.

In the year from September 2021 to September 2022, two houses were sold here for prices ranging between £2.2m and £2.7m.

The house with the highest price tag went for £2.7m in June 2022. It previously changed hands in 2005 for £1.6m.

The lavish residence has five bedrooms, along with a cinema room, gymnasium and special crafted kitchen and dining area. The garden spans about a third of an acre and even features a hot tub.

Another property on the road was sold for £2.2m and ranked as the fourth most expensive of the year.

The joint-second most expensive of the 12 month period overall is located on Selworthy Road in Birkdale, near Southport , another emerging 'Millionaire's Row' in the region where homes sell for an average of £2.5m. The property in question - a five-bed, detached mansion - changed hands for £2.5m last January.

Over the water in Caldy, on the Wirral , another home was sold for a whopping £2.5m. The massive residence has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and even its own pool.

The fifth most expensive home is in Crosby , an opulent neighbourhood near the coast featuring huge houses hidden behind electric gates.

A property here changed hands for £2.1m in May 2022, although the hefty price tag was well over the average for the road. According to Rightmove, houses had an overall average price of £665,000 over the last year.
