Morrisons has announced plans to shut 132 "loss-making" McColl's stores as it warned 1,300 jobs are at risk of being axed.
The supermarket confirmed it would purchase the failing convenience store chain in May this year, as part of a £190million rescue deal.
It comes after McColl's crashed into administration under the weight of a reported £170million worth of debt.
