Morrisons shoppers 'vow never to set foot in there again' after seeing price of coffee

Morrisons has come under fire after shoppers noticed coffee being sold for £9.

One customer says she was so taken aback she thought the supermarket had made a mistake.

She immediately demanded a refund and then went to get her coffee from Home Bargains instead.

Angela Howells-Owen visited the supermarket and picked up a 190g jar of Nescafe Gold Alta Rica.

But she was left horrified when she noticed the amount on the price tag, reports Manchester Evening News.

Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains website, Angela Howells-Owen said: "Popped into Morrisons yesterday to pick some coffee up (alta rica) got to the till and it scanned at £9.00.

“I obviously queried it and they said it was correct! Got a refund and went to home bargains. Just sharing in case anybody else buys it as part of a big shop, I don't always check. "

The Morrisons website still has the 190g jar of Nescafe Gold Alta Rica listed as £9.

But at Asda, Waitrose and Ocado, the product is only going for £5.50, according to online price comparison site trolley.co.uk.

Gemma took to the bargains website asking for other shoppers' opinions on Morrisons prices.

She said: "Does anyone else think Morrisons has put prices up a lot?"

Aileen McCallum said: "Morrisons are starting to take the p**s with their prices on n just about everything.

“And I'm not talking about 5/10p. Sometimes it’s quite a bit extra. Soon mounts up if you’re purchasing quite a few items.

“Although it's my closest, I’m gonna start shopping elsewhere."

One user said the supermarket is "going way over the top with their price increases".

While another added: "This doesn’t surprise me. I used to shop at Morrisons all the time but their price increases are just ridiculous.

"I now prefer Tesco. So much better on prices."

User Maz Bridgman said: “I've vowed never to step foot in there again", after noticing prices soaring in the last 10 months.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: "This is an unprecedented period of inflation and we are doing everything we can to keep prices down for our customers, including growing our entry range 'Savers', offering free meals for children in our cafes and investing in our My Morrisons loyalty scheme.

“We believe we are competitive across the store with good standards, pricing and availability."
