Morrison's is set to drop the prices of approximately 130 items in a New Year's move, as shoppers praise the cost-effective decision.
The supermarket giant is set to lower the prices of things like bread, meat and cheese from today (January 2), in a bid to battle against the cost of living crisis, reports The Sun. These reductions will apply to the store's own-brand ranges, which include Essentials, Wonky and Savers aisles.
Roughly half of the products in these collections - 130 out of the total 263 products - will be slashed in price. This will cost Morrison's a total of £16 million.

These price cuts will apply to staple fridge, freezer and cupboard items. They include the following:
- Bacon
- Cooked chicken
- Cheese
- Fruit
- Vegetables
- Frozen ready meals
- Pizza
- Fish fingers
- Tins - including beans, tuna and chopped tomatoes
- Orange Juice
- Sauces and spreads - including marmalade and ketchup
Price cuts will also be applied to some cleaning essentials, including things like toothbrushes, washing up liquid and laundry detergent. All of Morrison's supermarkets - 498 in total - will cut their prices, and the majority of these products can also be found reduced online.

The ranges will be clearly signposted in stores, with an online section called 'More Ways to Save' listing the supermarket's own ranges.
Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: "We want to do all we can to help when it comes to the cost of grocery shopping and by investing in the range and cutting the prices further, our customers will see a noticeable impact on their budgets at a time when they really need it.”
Here are a few examples of the own-brand price cuts that Morrison's has made:
