Marking Youth Day, Morocco's King Mohammed VI has granted his pardon to 588 convicts, revealed a statement by the ministry of justice.
A total of 15 inmates benefited from pardon over their remaining prison term. Up to 391 prisoners had their prison terms reduced.
One inmate had her prison sentences commuted from death penalty to life imprisonment. Six others had their prison sentences commuted from life imprisonment to fixed prison terms.
Also, a total of 57 people benefited from pardon over their prison terms or remaining prison sentence. Up to 16 people benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms, while their fines were maintained.
Ninety-one people had their fines annulled.
Ten people benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines as well, while one person benefited from pardon over fines and remaining prison sentence.
