Science and technology company Merck is holding a recruitment event in Irvine next week – with more than 50 positions up for grabs.
Recruiters from the firm will be available at the Riverside Lodge Hotel next Thursday and Friday to speak to potential candidates about a number of roles currently available at the company’s site in the Heatherhouse Industrial Estate.
Open opportunities include positions in manufacturing, packaging, distribution, production and quality.
The event will take place on Thursday, February 24 from 1pm to 6pm and on Friday, February 25 from 11am to 3pm.
Attendees will have the chance to meet with Irvine staff and recruiters to talk about the many positions available and hear what it is like to work for Merck and the Irvine site.
They will also have the opportunity to go through an informal interview process and potentially secure one of the 50-plus vacancies that will become available this year.
The Irvine facility supplies critical raw ingredients to the global healthcare industry and is providing several buffers – the chemicals that control the pH levels of the Covid vaccine mixture – to leading Covid vaccine programmes to assist in vaccine development.
Site director Kelly Foster said: “We’re excited to be coming to the Riverside Lodge Hotel next week to speak to potential candidates. We have open positions in a number of different areas including manufacturing, packaging, distribution, production, and quality.
“If you’re curious about these roles and want to find out more or if you want to learn about what it’s like working for a multinational company that is at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19, please come along.”
Merck’s Irvine site produces cell culture media – food for cells – in both liquid and powder form.
Products are supplied to research institutions and the healthcare industry across the world, supporting the production of treatments for diseases such as cancer, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and dementia.
The company say the ongoing work at the Irvine facility demonstrates their commitment to investing in Scotland’s diverse life sciences sector, as recent multi-million investments have been carried out to further expand their production capacity.
In addition, they say the expanding site reflects Merck’s commitment to the local economy by adding much-needed jobs.
