More than 100 jobs at risk as Scottish firm of 50 years enters administration

MORE than 100 jobs could be at risk after a firm based at Prestwick Airport entered administration.

Companies House documents confirm that Wallace McDowall Ltd has appointed administrators.

Last week, the company, founded more than 50 years ago, changed its name to WMCD Realisations 2026 Ltd.

It follows months of speculation about the future of the firm, after staff were issued a memo in April which warned about possible administration.

According to Ayrshire Live, the memo said that the company would "operate as normal", and that bosses were determining the "best possible outcome" for the business.

Wallace McDowall Ltd has been contacted for comment.

The company started in 1969 in the agricultural sector with 40 employees, but now has a staff of around 200 people.

It offers services including component assembly, welding, finishing, machining, laser cutting and design.

The company was bought over by the HLD Group in 2019 and last year, members of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the factory.
