A batch of tofu bound for kitchens in 29 American states has been pulled from shelves after its own manufacturer discovered that the ink printed on its packaging may have bled into the food itself.
Oakland-based Hodo, Inc. has recalled more than 10,000 cases of its Chili Crisp Lightly Fried Tofu, a ready-to-eat product sold in retailers including Whole Foods and served in restaurants.
