PHUKET: Rain again pounded many parts of this island province on Monday night, frustrating efforts to drain water from areas still flooded after Sunday's deluge.

Many spots where water had receded were again flooded.

In Muang district, the water level rose in many areas, particularly in Soi Phaniang and Soi Samkong, although the four pumps installed there were running in full capacity.

In Thalang district, flooding stalled traffic in front of the Karn Kheha housing estate in tambon Si Sunthorn. The same situation prevailed in front of the Blue Tree Water Park in tambon Choeng Thalay and Thalang Technical College in tambon Thep Kasattri.

The road behind Wat Don was flooded all the way from Soi 1 to Ban Ya area and was impassable. Signs were put up to prevent motorists using the road.

The provincial disaster prevention and mitigation office and all local administrations were pooling efforts to drain water from flooded spots as soon as possible.
