As four stand-out restaurants spanning the region enjoy the spotlight this Wednesday following news of their Michelin star success, three other city favourites have reason of their own to celebrate.
The annual Michelin Guide announcement brought good news for Hjem in Northumberland, The House of Tides in Newcastle and The Raby Hunt near Darlington which all have retained their prestigious stars - two in the case of the latter - while the region has now added an extra one.
Despite being open just nine months, Pine in Northumberland now has been awarded a Michelin star too, it was announced on Wednesday, while there is further good food news for the local food scene.

Michelin has also confirmed 2022 Bib Gourmand awards for three city restaurants.
Previous winners The Broad Chare and Route near Newcastle Quayside and Haveli in Ponteland have all retained the accolade for another year.
This award - named after Bibendum, the famous Michelin Man company mascot - highlight popular restaurants which offer good food at competitive prices.
The Broad Chare, which opened with an ethos of "'proper beer and proper food' in 2011 in a collaboration between Terry Laybourne's 21 Hospitality Group and Live Theatre, is regularly singled out for praise and just this month shared its delight at being included in the new list of the UK's Top 50 Gastropubs.
The nearby Route, opened by owner chef John Calton in 2018 with a menu of bistro-style seasonal British food, told Facebook followers on Wednesday that it is "thrilled" to have retained its Bib Gourmand award for the fourth year running; calling the success a "real team effort" and adding "absolutely love bringing our modern bistro vibe and vision to the Newcastle food scene".
Joining the success story is Sunil Mehra's award-winning Indian restaurant Haveli which says it is one of only seven Indian restaurants in the UK to be awarded a Bib Gourmand.
