A medical test carried out in the hope of saving a blood cancer patient's life has unexpectedly led to a police investigation into an alleged rape dating back to 2020 in Gujarat's Morbi, a PTI report stated. The case involves a woman whose husband was advised to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Doctors tested their son to see whether he could be a suitable stem-cell donor. When the expected compatibility was not found, questions arose within the family and the woman subsequently told her husband about an alleged sexual assault from years earlier.
The woman has now accused a man, who is the husband of a former BJP councillor of Morbi, of repeatedly raping her in 2020. Police registered an FIR at Morbi's A Division police station on September 9, 2026. The accused has not been arrested and police are searching for him.
