A low speed police chase in Bristol resulted in the arrest of a moped rider. Unlike many other cases involving mayhem on the road, Aaron Lynch was suspected of exceeding 20mph through a 20mph zone, Bristol Crown Crown Court heard.
Father-of-two Lynch, 25, of Billand Close in Bishopsworth, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance in February. He appeared for sentence at Bristol Crown Court today (July 25, 2022).
The recorder Mr David Chidgey jailed him for eight months, which should ensure his immediate release after time spent on remand. The recorder told him: "You drove away from police on the moped, you mounted kerbs, exceeded the speed limit and put people at some risk."

Lynch was banned from driving for two years. His driving licence was endorsed.
Caitlin Evans, prosecuting, said Lynch rode the Piaggio moped to Morrisons supermarket on Four Acres road and bought some items. He came to the attention of police when he pulled out in front of them and they saw his crash helmet was not on properly.
The court heard when they tried to speak with him he mounted the pavement and headed for a mini-roundabout. Police turned their car around and activated their blue lights and siren but Lynch didn't stop.
Police estimated he was exceeding 20mph on Sherrin Way through a 20mph zone before he went into Horsepool Road, turned around, mounted the pavement and stopped. He then turned the moped around again, returned to Sherrin Way and was lost to sight.
Miss Evans said police later found the moped abandoned. They tracked down the defendant at his home, he was arrested and made no comment when interviewed.
Rhianna Fricker, defending, said: "He is very remorseful for his actions. He will be looking forward to coming home to his two children and partner."
