Election officials in Montana temporarily shut down the state's early voting website on Friday due to a glitch affecting a small number of overseas voters. The glitch came to light when one affected voter reported receiving a ballot that did not include Vice President Kamala Harris as an option.

The Montana secretary of state's office confirmed on Monday that they had received a report of a ballot not displaying properly for one overseas voter. However, the statement did not attribute the glitch to Vice President Harris.

Officials took the voting portal offline for a few hours on Friday to address the issue. The affected overseas voter has been contacted, and no further action is needed. The incident only impacted a few voters, as the electronic system is primarily used by military and overseas voters.

Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen's office, a Republican, denounced the spread of misinformation online and shared a sample ballot for Montana voters that clearly included Vice President Harris' name.

It is important to note that this glitch does not affect the physical ballots that will be sent to absentee voters or the ballots used for in-person voting in Montana. The incident was isolated to the early voting website and has been resolved without any impact on the upcoming election process.
