Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak introduced a lot of new monsters to Capcom's popular franchise, including the two flagship monsters, Magnamalo and Malzeno.

Among these two Magnamalo was the monster that players got to hunt first using various new mechanics in the latest entry in the series. In this guide, we'll talk about how you can reliably beat Magnamalo by teaching you the monster's weaknesses.

Magnamalo, the Fanged Wyvern

This particular monster is classified in the same category as monsters like Zinogre, and they also feature similar builds. Magnamalo also has quick and deadly strikes that will punish you if you are too greedy.

On top of its melee attacks, this monster has access to several long-range moves that, while slow-moving, are still projectiles that can hit you from afar. Nearly all of Magnamalo's moves are precisely aimed at its target, according to IGN.

Equipment Suggestion

Magnamalo is weakest to the Thunder element, so using a weapon that uses this particular element will let you deal more damage. When it comes to weapon choice, you should use what you are comfortable with as any of them can be useful against this monster.

Generally speaking, however, you would want a weapon type that gives you good mobility, such as the Sword and Shield or the Longsword. This lets you get your hits in and fall back to avoid potential counterattacks.

What To Bring

There are also many items that you can bring when hunting Magnamalo in order to increase your chances of surviving. These include Mega Potions and Max Potions that will heal you if you are damaged.

Max Potions can be crafted by combining Catalyst, which requires Bitterbug and Honey, with Mandragora. Ancient Potions are also useful and can be acquired by mixing an Immunizer with a Kelbi Horn, Polygon said.

Fighting Magnamalo

There are several strategies that can work in taking this monster down reliably. You can choose to either stay close or keep your distance depending on the situation. You can stay near Magnamalo's hind legs to prevent yourself from getting caught in the hellblight clouds.

You should stay away from the purple clouds around the battlefield as they will explode when they come into contact with Magnamalo. This will deal devastating damage and inflict hellfireblight.

The monster's tail is also a deadly weapon as it can shoot out six projectiles or even a laser. Keep a lookout for how the tail moves to know which attack is coming next.

It is also recommended to take advantage of Wirebugs to increase your mobility and dodge Magnamalo's attacks or reposition for a better angle.

Magnamalo's body is generally hard and tough, making it difficult to find a good spot to focus on. If you are using cutting weapons, you should focus on the monster's tail and if you are using blunt weapons, target its head, according to The Gamer.
