The Saree's Honest Limitation
The saree's biggest enemy isn't fashion trends. It's a puddle on a Mumbai footpath in July. Six metres of fabric, a petticoat that wicks up water from the hem, and blouse sleeves that cling, the saree is magnificent, but it was never designed for a season where the ground is wet for four months straight. That doesn't make it obsolete. It makes it occasional. The rest of the monsoon wardrobe needs to carry the weight.
