Monopoly Go launches Hello Kitty event with themed mini-games

Scopely is bringing a dose of Sanrio sweetness to Monopoly GO, as Hello Kitty and her friends headline a limited-time crossover running from March 10 to March 29.

The collaboration introduces a full slate of Hello Kitty and Friends themed content, from mini-games to cosmetic upgrades. Fan-favorite modes, such as Partners, Treasures, Racers, and Deluxe Drop, have all been redesigned with Sanrio flair, allowing players to build themed attractions, dig for character-inspired treasures, and race across colorful tracks inspired by Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi, and Kuromi.

Beyond gameplay tweaks, the Monopoly GO event places a strong emphasis on customization and social play. A new nine-sticker Hello Kitty and Friends set can be traded among players for rewards, while themed shields, dice, emojis, and Style Tokens expand personalization options. The update also ties into the ongoing Pets season, layering Sanrio visuals and companions onto existing progression systems rather than replacing them, which keeps the core loop intact while offering a fresh aesthetic.

The partnership feels intentional. Hello Kitty and her friends have long represented friendship, optimism, and collectibility, values that mirror Monopoly GO’s social trading mechanics and event-driven progression. The game thrives on cooperative modes like Partners and on limited sticker sets that encourage interaction. Sanrio’s character lineup, which spans generations of fans, fits naturally into a system built around trading, teamwork, and cosmetic expression.

The crossover also continues Monopoly GO’s strategy of high-profile collaborations. Since launch, the mobile hit has rolled out themed events tied to major entertainment brands and seasonal moments, turning its digital board into a rotating stage for pop culture. Previous partnerships have included blockbuster film tie-ins and other globally recognized IPs like Harry Potter this year, helping Scopely grow through frequent collectible-driven events.

For Scopely, the Hello Kitty collaboration is another example of how Monopoly GO is evolving beyond a simple digital board game. By blending recognizable characters with competitive mini-games and tradable rewards, the studio is reinforcing the live service model that has powered the title’s massive growth on iOS and Android.

The Hello Kitty and Friends event is available worldwide through March 29.
