Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has reacted to Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Spring Statement - and is particularly unhappy with one part of it.
The Chancellor rose in Parliament today to outline his plans to tackle t he cost of living crisis that is pushing millions towards poverty. Mr Sunak announced a cut to fuel duty of 5p a litre in a bid to tackle soaring pump prices. He also outlined plans to raise the National Insurance threshold by £3,000, meaning people must earn £12,570 before they pay any income tax or National Insurance.
But there was one area that household finance expert Martin Lewis felt was severely lacking. This was concerning the Chancellor's approach to dealing with raging energy prices. On this, Mr Sunak said he will scrap VAT on home energy-saving measures such as solar panels, heat pumps and insulation. He said this would make it easier and cheaper for people to install devices and materials in their homes that will bring their energy bills down.
