As our Mike Sykes wrote on Monday, we’re getting Monday Night Football doubleheaders throughout the 2023 season.
And that means you’re going to have to flip between two games on a Monday, something that happened in Week 2 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns facing off in one game, and the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers in the other.
But ESPN kept doing something during those broadcasts that annoyed fans a lot: Using split screen to peek in on each of the games. It interrupted the action of the contest everyone was watching and fans took to Twitter to complain about it:
Dear ESPN, please stop this split screen stuff. pic.twitter.com/GeLXzgmaN8

ABC, can we get rid of the split screen? If I wanted to watch the Panthers/Saints game, I would change the channel. #Steelers

Dear ESPN, we know there is another game on ESPN2. We don’t want to watch that game. We all have remotes. Stop with split screen.

Can we not with the split screen? If I wanted to see the Panthers/Saints game I'd have it on.

Why are they showing this split screen? I don't care about Panthers/Saints.@ABC @ESPN #Steelers

Here’s a great solution!
Use ESPN2 to a show a split screen with both games. One game on ABC, one on ESPN, split screen on ESPN2.
