Moment Met Police arrest rider carrying sword in Walthamstow motorbike chase

The Met Police arrested a man carrying a large sword and drugs in what began as a routine patrol in Walthamstow.

The officers recovered a large gold sword that had been dropped by the suspect after a police chase in the area of east London.

Officers initially attempted to stop a man on a motorbike after he had been spotted with a false number plate.

In bodycam footage released by the Met Police on X, officers are seen chasing down the rider before he crashes into an officer’s bike. The suspect then takes off on foot.

Officers from the Met Police continued to pursue the man by foot, eventually detaining him with handcuffs using PAVA incapacitant spray.

In the video, officers can be heard yelling “Stop reaching for your waistband!”, as they struggle to handcuff the suspect.

At first the officers recover “a bit of cannabis”, before finding a large sword dropped by the rider in the chase.

The Met Police has been contacted for further comment.
