This is the moment children swam in an underpass as water burst from street hydrant in Salford.
The underpass, at the end of Cross Lane and under the Regent Road roundabout, was left flooded yesterday (Thursday) as streams of water erupted from the hydrant on the side of the road. Video footage showed children swimming in the deluge and running around in the water as a heatwave hit our region.
United Utilities said they were called to the scene following a report of 'hydrant abuse'. It is believed the hydrant was burst deliberately.

Workers had 'to wait for anti-social behaviour to stop' before fixing the issue. United Utilities warned 'hydrant abuse is not fun' and warned it can impact access to water for the fire service.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "We were alerted to hydrant abuse on Cross Lane in Salford yesterday. We will always attend to turn these off as soon as possible, and to ensure our teams can do this safely we do have to wait until the anti-social behaviour has stopped.
"Hydrant abuse is not harmless fun, and as well as wasting resources and disrupting supplies to customers, it can impact access to water for the fire service, potentially putting lives at risk. We thank customers for their patience while we addressed this incident."
