A heartless carer was caught red handed stealing cash from a terminally ill Scots grandad after his concerned daughters installed hidden dog cameras. Evil Anthony McKnight was filmed helping himself to Kenneth Samuel’s money when he was meant to be caring for the pensioner at his home in Haddington, East Lothian.
The 87-year-old’s three children initially thought the OAP was simply misplacing the cash, spoiling his grandchildren with it or even taking himself off for a trip to the bookies. But after installing the old pet monitoring cameras in June last year , they were horrified to see footage of McKnight opening a drawer and lifting cash out of the pensioner’s wallet before slipping it into his uniform.
After taking the footage to the police, McKnight was charged and later pleaded guilty to theft, Edinburgh Live reports. Daughter Caroline Samuel told how the family were initially relieved when they hired private sector carer McKnight to care for their elderly father, who has sadly since died after a battle with bowel cancer.
