Mollie King pays tribute to dad as she marks one year since his death

Mollie King marked the one-year anniversary of her father Stephen’s death with a touching tribute on social media.

The 36-year-old’s dad passed away last November, three months after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and just days after she welcomed her first child, a daughter named Annabella, with partner Stuart Broad.

Marking one year since his death, the BBC Radio 1 DJ took to Instagram on Wednesday to share an emotional post remembering her late father alongside several photos of them together.

The Saturdays singer admitted it was a “hard” day explaining how she still misses him “every day”, and sharing her upset that he’ll never see her daughter grow up.

She wrote: “A year ago today we lost our most incredible Dad. It's still hard to say that. I think of him every day but today is especially hard.

“There are endless times, every single day, where I wish he was here for us to exchange funny stories or for me to ask for his advice or just simply to say hi.

“But the toughest pill for me to swallow is him not being able to watch Annabella grow up,” she shared.

“I know how in love with her he would be and how much he would've loved seeing me become a mum… it would've undoubtedly given him a good few giggles to see some of my first-time-mum questions, I'm sure.

“I miss him every day but know he is still here with me by my side, like he always was. Love you more than anything Dad.”

The radio presenter shared in November that her dad held on for a “few extra days” to meet his granddaughter Annabella, who was born that same month.

King said she was “heartbroken” as she announced her dad’s death on Instagram last year.

She wrote: “Heartbroken beyond words. In August, my family’s world was shattered when my Dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

“Last week, we had to face the day we hoped would never come and say goodbye.

“Dad, we love you with all our hearts and we will miss you every single day. You have been our hero and it’s impossible to think of our lives without you.

“You have always been there for us with every step we’ve taken and you even held on a few extra days to meet baby Annabella.

“You gave us your everything. You will be in our hearts and our memories every single day.”
