Chelsea are set to go one-step closer in signing midfielder Moises Caicedo as the Stamford Bridge club look to start negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion over the Ecuador international. It seems the Blues is the preferred destination for the midfielder as the interest continues to grow with Arsenal - who have not renewed their interest back in January - prioritising Declan Rice's signature instead.
The Blues are not without some competition for the midfielder with other clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool linked with the ball-winning midfielder. However, Fabrizio Romano has gone on record to say Todd Boehly and co will begin negotiations some time this week which will be another blow for United.
It is not the first time Erik ten Hag's side have chased the 21-year-old midfielder with the former Independiente del Valle player choosing the American Express Community Stadium over Old Trafford back in February 2021. Despite saying it would be a dream of his to play for Man United, the 32-capped Ecuador international was chased by both clubs but settled for the south coast before a loan spell at Belgian side Beerschot.
Bookies Sky Bet have priced Chelsea as the heavy favourites at 1/3 to secure the Ecuadorian's services in a much-needed revamp in the midfield under Mauricio Pochettino. It will be seen as the first major signing to arrive at Stamford Bridge especially with Mateo Kovacic leaving to join European champions Manchester City.
