Brighton star Moises Caicedo has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League this season. The midfielder, 21, was keen to join the Gunners in the January transfer window but Brighton refused to let their star player leave.
Edu lodged two bids for Caicedo in the winter window, with the highest believed to be in the region of £70 million. Despite the Ecuador international releasing a statement seemingly confirming his intention to leave the Seagulls, a move did not come to fruition and instead Arsenal signed Jorginho from Chelsea.
Caicedo is still on the Gunners' radar, however, and Edu may try and sign the player yet again in the summer. football.london understands, though, that West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is now the north Londoners' priority and it remains to be seen if Caicedo will ever put on an Arsenal shirt.

Whatever happens, Caicedo's thoughts on the Gunners are clear and he has now revealed that he still wants Mikel Arteta's side to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this season. Arsenal are currently four points ahead of City going into tonight's (Friday) game with Southampton, although they have played one game more than their title rivals.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Caicedo was asked if he wants to see Arsenal be crowded champions next month. “Of course,” he replied. “I hope so but let's see.”
Speaking on his failed transfer in January, the midfielder said: “I was really close to going. I suffered a lot. I’m sure I'm going to have many more opportunities. That’s why I continue to do things well. [But] it was tough.
"At the beginning when I didn’t end up going, lots of people would make fun of me on Instagram. People treated me badly.
"I didn’t check my social media because it would hurt me to see things. I’d seen a lot of Arsenal before knowing that there was a possibility of me signing for them. I watched them and I liked them because they have very young, talented players and some stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more.”
While Caicedo believes Arsenal will win the Premier League, plenty of pundits still have their doubts. Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane is one of them.
“They’re [Arsenal] in a great position, wouldn’t have thought that at the start of the season but they’ve been brilliant, a lot of the young players have been very consistent, they can just focus on the league,” the Irishman said on The Overlap. “They’re definitely favourites for the title.
“I don’t think they’ll do it. I still have to fancy City but Arsenal have got themselves in a great position. You need a little bit of luck, injuries over the last few months, they’re in a great position and you have to admire them for that can’t begrudge them.”
